TEST · IRRIGATE · FEED. Putting the same thing on the whole field means overpaying in one block and coming up short in another.

About us

Your advice shouldn't come from the people selling you the product.

Taproot is an independent agronomy firm in Fresno. We see the same root problem on every new farm: the advice comes from the input dealer, who profits from whatever they recommend.

  • We don't sell inputs or take commissions from any brand.
  • Your plan comes from soil and water tests, done block by block.
  • Every visit ends with a dated report of what we saw and what needs to happen.
How we work

Five steps every season.

From the first visit to a wrap-up with yield and cost per pound.

  1. 01

    Field visit

We walk the field before we weigh in.

  2. 02

    Lab tests

Soil and water go to the lab, every time.

  3. 03

    Season plan

What to apply, how much and when.

  4. 04

    In-season support

Regular visits and adjustments as the season unfolds.

  5. 05

    Season wrap-up

What you spent, what you harvested and what to fix.

Why TAPROOT?

What you'll find here.

We don't sell fertilizer

No commission from any brand. The recommendation comes from your lab results, not from what we'd like to move.

Lab tests before the plan

Soil and water go to the lab every time. Without those results, any fertilizer program is a shot in the dark.

We walk the field

We dig soil pits and check block by block. We don't diagnose from a photo or over the phone.

A report after every visit

What we saw and what needs to happen goes in writing, with a date. Nothing depends on someone's memory.

We talk cost per pound

At the end of the season, we compare the plan with the harvest. Higher yields don't help if you don't know what they cost.

We train your crew

Your field crew carries out the plan. If they don't understand the why, the plan doesn't get followed.

0 Fertilizer products we sell No commission from any brand, so the recommendation answers only to your crop.
8 Field services Four in crop management and four in testing and support.
2 Lab tests before any plan Soil and water, every time. Tissue tests are added depending on the crop.
Seasons

Seasons in progress.

The cards below are format samples. We'll replace them with real seasons, with each grower's permission.

Drip block where the row ends got half the water

Uniformity test with emitter flow measured at several points along each lateral, which found a sharp pressure drop at the end of the long laterals, a block redesign with split irrigation sets and new emitters, and a second round of measurements to confirm the fix.
